We Did it!

As of Friday (11/07), an overwhelming 58-percent of voters supported safer schools and more space for our kids and teachers.

We should be proud of the community effort that was put into passing this bond measure - A community effort that started three years ago with dozens of volunteers on a citizen facilities task force that carefully evaluated each school's health and safety. Our school district superintendent, her staff, and our volunteer school board worked with the community to identify the most pressing needs. It was then up to Yes for Our Schools to deliver.

We organized a campaign that brought together organizations like the Salem Area & Keizer Chambers of Commerce, Stand for Children, Salem-Keizer Education Association, Salem-Keizer Association of Classified Employees, and Friends of Music and recruited 200+ volunteers to knock on or call nearly 18,000 households. Volunteers also hand-addressed 25,000 postcards to voters, helped present bond measure facts to neighborhood associations and service clubs all across Salem-Keizer, and put up 1,000 lawn signs in neighborhoods. We received over 600 contributions to help our voter outreach efforts that spanned the mailbox, radio, newspaper, and internet.

Thank you to everyone who supported our campaign, volunteered time, or donated money. It truly made the difference and helped us beat the odds and pass the largest K-12 school bond measure in Oregon history during one of the most difficult economic times.

It shows that when the community can come together to work for the common good, we can achieve anything.

Measure 24-249 is a good deal any way you slice it.

There’s a lot going on this election.  But there is one measure on the ballot that will have a real impact right here in our community: Measure 24-249 – the Salem-Keizer School Bond.

We all count on our public schools. And good schools are never more important than in times like these.

Right here in our own backyard, 48 of our 66 school buildings are in desperate need of repair and renovation. Measure 24-249 will make these repairs, keeping our children safe and protecting our investment.  And the School Bond will give our children enough room to learn, easing terrible overcrowding by building 4 schools.

And the measure is structured so our tax bills won’t go up once the bond is in place, with the people who move here paying their fair share of the costs.

Urgent Repairs.  Less crowding.  Affordable.  That’s a pretty good deal any way you slice it.  Vote Yes for our Salem Keizer Schools.  Vote Yes on 24-249.

It's time to protect our kids, and our investment.

Vote YES for Salem-Keizer Schools.
